E se dicessi che Pinter non l'ho letto e non mi piace? Faccio la figura della rozza incolta? Il guaio è che il suo Nobel sembra sia stato più meritato per frasi come queste che per meriti artistici:

Povero Owen, citato a sproposito e poveri noi. Ho sempre sostenuto il sacrosanto diritto degli scrittori e degli artisti al disimpegno, per non fare torto all'arte, e per non fare un torto a se stessi, se non sono informati. A ciascuno il suo, pena figuraccia da noglobal. Nel frattempo, la voglia di leggere Pinter, se mai ne ho avuta, è passata: non so voi, ma riprendo molto più volentieri Macbeth. Del resto, sono retrò di nome e di fatto.
